Luis Magín is one of the most relevant Spanish string players of his generation, with a prominent international projection. His professional versatility along with a multidisciplinary education, locates him within the parameters of the portfolio musician, able to confront the new challenges that the modern society demands.
As professor of viola of the CONSMUPA and President of the Spanish Viola Society AESAV, he develops an intense activity in the areas of teaching, performing and researching. The endorsement of the critics and the results obtained by his students, reveals him as one of the most attractive pedagogical figures of the present time.
Luis Magín collaborates in several research projects in the areas of acoustics and viola pedagogy, displayed at the International Congress of Acoustics (Barcelona, September 2007) and at the 1st Spanish National Viola Congress (Oviedo, March 2007). His recent research on the Viola Didactic work by Francisco Fleta, has reported him the Diploma of Advance Studies in Musicology by the University of Oviedo.
He holds a Bachelor degree at the CONSMUPA and a Master and Artist Diploma at Yale University. He has received an intense academic instruction in the fields of Chamber Music, Conducting and Musicology, gathering the influences and advices of eminent figures of the music arena like, the Tokyo String Quartet, Kurt Masur, Luciano Berio, Wieslaw Rekucki, Jesse Levine, Nobuko Imai, Daniel Benjamini or Yuri Yurov, among others.
