The Several prizes in National and International Competitions, reveals Luis Magín as one of the most awarded Spanish viola players. He has been awarded at the Young contest “Solistas of the Principality of Asturias” 1998; Diploma D´Onore at “Torneo Internazionale di Musica” 1998; Silver medal at the “International Villa de Sahagún Competition” 1997; First Viola Prize at CONSMUPA in 1993
His technical command and musicality has inspired to numerous Spanish composers who have written works for him, like Jorge Muñiz, Juan Cué, Ximo Cano or Salvador Brotons. Luis Magín has performed solo together with the JONDE, Yale Chamber Players, Orchestra de Cámara Galega, Symphony Orchestra of the CONSMUPA and the Iberian Chamber Orchestra, doing the world premiere of the Concert for viola and Orchestra by Salvador Brotons. He has recorded for RTVE and Several Records, with a great welcome of the critics. He masters an extensive repertoire for the viola and he is a specialist in the interpretation of Spanish music for viola.
He plays on a splendid viola by George Apparut together with an instrument by the prominent Spanish Luthier Jardón Rico. He uses a Pierre Guillaume bow for the contemporary repertoire and another one by Benoit Rolland in the style of Pajeot, for his classic-romantic interpretations, both mounted in gold and specifically made for him. |
